Festival of Ideas for the New City May 4-8, 2011

Hi all, I haven’t posted in a while… this is a good opportunity to see some fresh things around the city. Check out and enjoy the seminars, exhibitions and street fairs on the weekend of May 4-8:

The NYC Department of Buildings will be participating and promoting urbancanvas and the cool roof initiative. Fantastic!!! Their stand will be installed in the Bowery right south of the New Museum in the Worms installation.

New City Reader featuring ‘Color Mesh’ available online

New City Reader featuring ‘Color Mesh’ is now available online.

Printed copies are available at the New Museum and posted for collective reading downtown Manhattan.

New City Reader is a performance based editorial residency part of the exhibition The Last Newspaper at the New Museum in NYC.

‎’Color Mesh’ feature in NEW CITY READER a temporary newspaper part of the exhibition The Last Newspaper at the NEW MUSEUM in NYC. Printed copies of this week’s issue are available at the museum, 235 Bowery, NY, NY 10002. This newspaper is also posted in some public areas downtown Manhattan for collective reading. urbancanvas competition winner!!!

Hi Everybody,

I’m very happy to announce that ‘Color Mesh‘, my artwork in collaboration with Jesse, is a winner on the urbancanvas competition.

Today’s printed and online versions of the New York Times have a story announcing the winners and highlighting the first artwork to be printed and installed in a construction site, ‘Color Mesh’. It was installed on Monday October 25th at the Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn, site to the new stadium.

Tengo el gusto de anunciarles que mi obra COLOR MESH ha sido seleccionada como finalista en el concurso urbancanvas en Nueva York. La objeto de la competencia era recibir propuestas de obras que puedan ser imprimidas/pintadas en las barreras de construcción en la ciudad de Nueva York. El jurado seleccionó ocho finalistas y ahora es la oportunidad del público para votar por los favoritos. Finalist on the urbancanvas competition with COLOR MESH!!!

I want to share some good news with all of you. My artwork COLOR MESH has been selected as a finalist for the urbancanvas competition in NYC. The purpose of the competition was to submit proposals for temporary artwork to be printed/painted in construction fences, scaffolding, etc. The juror selected 8 proposals. Then the finalists were approved by the NYC Design Commission. The final step of the process is a public vote (see link below). The four art proposals with the highest score will be winners and become available for use in construction sites throughout the city.

Please take a couple of minutes to visit the urbancanvas site and vote for your favorite (hopefully COLOR MESH!!!)… Voting will end on October 1st at 5:00PM.
